Getting your decking ready for winter will stop it becoming slippery and dangerous when the weather takes a turn for the worse.
Your decking needs to be thoroughly cleaned, preferably with a stiff brush and a pressure washer, until there is no debris or dirt left behind. Before treating it with wood stain it is worth checking that your decking doesn't need any repairs, such as cracked bits or missing screws. If everything is in good order, apply a coat of preservative to create a moisture barrier that will protect the wood from water or algae build up.
Anti-slip paint will prevent the deck becoming difficult to walk on when wet; larger particles within the paint allow soles to grip. Anti-slip strips are another option; these sit on top of decking and provide a stable walking surface.
